The Gomoa Easter Carnival, an initiative by the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has officially been launched ahead of the Easter festivities in the Central Region.

The festival is scheduled to take place from April 2 to April 5, 2026, across various communities in Gomoa, promising four days of culture, music, food, and community celebration. The official launch event was held at the Labadi Beach Hotel on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, bringing together key stakeholders including players from the creative industry, politicians, traditional leaders, members of the media, and the business community.

The four-day carnival is designed to celebrate the culture and vibrancy of Gomoa while creating opportunities for tourism and economic activity in the area. The festival lineup includes three days of musical performances featuring some of Ghana’s biggest artistes alongside emerging talents from the Gomoa area.

Beyond the music, attendees can look forward to a variety of activities including a barbecue and bonfire session, painting sessions, an art exhibition, a food bazaar, masquerades, and a grand durbar of chiefs.

Speaking at the launch, A Plus outlined what participants should expect during the festival. According to him, the first day will begin with a welcome night featuring a relaxed bonfire session at Crown Forest Hotel. The second day will move to Elwamkrom Jukwa for the official opening ceremony, after which vendors will begin operating across the festival grounds.

Later that evening, the much-anticipated classic highlife session will take place at the Ekwamkrom Community Park. The celebrations will also include a grand durbar of chiefs, with traditional rulers arriving in palanquins accompanied by traditional drumming and dancing. The cultural display will be followed by performances from university jama groups including Conti, Vandals, Kantangees and several others.

The night will end with a high-energy street anthem concert featuring top Ghanaian artistes including Sarkodie, Kofi Kinaata, Okyeame Kwame, and Bisa Kdei.

A Plus used the platform to encourage the public to support the initiative and explore the potential of the area. He urged Ghanaians and visitors alike to visit Gomoa, believe in Gomoa, and invest in Gomoa.

Also speaking at the launch, the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, called on the public to give the Gomoa Easter Carnival the necessary patronage while pledging government support for the initiative. She emphasized that the festival should be seen not just as entertainment but as a strategic effort to position the Central Region as a hub for Ghanaian culture and tradition.

According to her, the carnival presents an opportunity to promote tourism while boosting the local economy and showcasing the authentic culture of the people of Gomoa.

The Gomoa Easter Carnival, sponsored by Hotwav, is being organized in partnership with Multimedia Group Limited and is expected to attract visitors from across the country during the Easter season.
