Ghana’s creative industry executive and politician Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu has been named Ghana’s High Commissioner-designate to Nigeria, marking a significant transition from media entrepreneurship to diplomatic service.
The announcement was made on March 1, 2026, by Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, in a congratulatory message shared on social media following the appointment by John Dramani Mahama. In his message, Ablakwa expressed confidence that Baba Sadiq would represent Ghana with distinction and inspire young Africans through his leadership.

1. He Contested the Okaikoi Central Parliamentary Seat
Baba Sadiq contested the Okaikoi Central parliamentary seat in the 2024 general elections on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress. However, he lost the seat to incumbent MP Patrick Yaw Boamah.
2. He Has Over Two Decades of Experience in Media and Communications
Baba Sadiq is a trained media and communications specialist, entrepreneur, and politician with over 20 years of experience in Africa’s media and communications industries. Over the years, he has built a reputation as a leading figure in media innovation and creative industry development.
3. Founder of 3Music TV and the 3Music Awards
He is the founder and former Chief Executive Officer of 3 Media Networks Limited, operators of the popular music television brand 3Music TV and the 3Music Awards. Sadiq is also the founder and executive director of the WILDALAND Foundation, the organization behind the WILDALAND festival.
4. Played a Key Role in Boomplay’s Growth in Ghana
Before his ventures with 3Media Networks, Sadiq served as the founding director of Boomplay in Ghana. He was instrumental in setting up the Ghana office, building the local team, and expanding the platform’s user base to nearly 11 million users while acquiring content from Ghanaian and African creators.

Sadiq also served as Head of Programmes and Own Productions as well as Executive Producer at Modern Times Group Africa for Viasat1 Ghana.
